art collaborations
We encourage artists to express themselves through our textiles. Dutch-born, Spanish-raised artist Sebastian Mesdag has used our textiles for an art project in Bali, Indonesia. Padma Shri Awardee Indian Artist Paresh Maity has also used our fabrics to create an art installation on Time Present and Time Past, a textile and light installation at Varanasi.Â
manufacturing
We manufacture clothing for several prominent and international fashion designers who design collections inspired by our archives and modern take on traditional textiles.
Architects and interior designers too, often source their fabric from Weavers Studio to create customised cushions, curtains and throws. The interiors of the Bengali restaurant Sonar Tori, is an amalgamation of our textile and print work.
We also manufacture kimono belts, tunics, scarves and fabrics for independent Japanese labels.

Veda Commercial, Weavers Studio’s export arm, was started in 1993 by Darshan Shah with the mission statement,‘Taking India’s rich textile heritage, culture, techniques and the arts to the world’.Â
Veda Commercial together with Weavers Studio designs textiles suitable for its European and South-East Asian clientele. It has given fresh impetus to fabrics and traditional techniques, including Khadi, Jamdani, Block Printing, Kantha, Chikankari, Appliqué, and Shibori.Â
film and costume production
Our first film collaborations were with the film director Rituparno Ghosh in the films Raincoat, Bariwali and Jeevan Smriti. Gradually, we started receiving offers from international production houses in France and Spain for costumes, fabrics, buttons, and other apparel for period productions. Based on a moodboard and brief we develop or source the right textiles. We've worked with international costume designers such as Pierre-Yves Gayraud and  Joan Bergin for various films such as The Prestige, The Hundred-Foot Journey and The Promise.
